Somnia is a high-performance Layer 1 built for real-time onchain applications

Somnia wanted its airdrop to encourage more than a one-time claim. The team needed a distribution model that rewarded users for returning to the ecosystem and participating over time, while keeping the claim experience accessible to users who did not already hold SOMI for gas.

Clique built a distribution system where 20% of each eligible allocation was available initially and the remaining 80% could be unlocked through ecosystem participation across an eight-week program. Registration connected eligible wallets with Steam, X and Discord accounts, while Clique's paymaster enabled gasless claims directly on Somnia mainnet.

Activity completion was measured by Somnia and passed to Clique via API, allowing qualifying participation to trigger the corresponding unlocks. Clique also integrated Hyperlane's bridge for Somnia's flagship NFT, connecting the bridge experience with the broader distribution.

Around 99K users registered for the distribution, and Somnia later reported nearly 50% post-airdrop holder retention. The program connected 80% of eligible allocations to continued ecosystem participation while gasless claims reduced friction for users joining Somnia mainnet.
